Candidates for the FOT certification are expected to have knowledge of fiber optics concepts pertaining to designing, configuring, installing, and maintaining fiber optics systems. FOTs test and troubleshoot Local Area Networks (LANs) with various faults. The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Senior Certified Electronics Technician (CETsr) certification is intended for, but not limited to, the professional electronics service technicians, technician managers, consultants, and electronics educators who have been active in the industry for six or more years. The CETsr candidates must pass an entire certification exam which includes the Associate level exam, plus one of the specialized Journeyman options. Requirements for the LAS certification include completion of a training course from an approved ETA-I school, hands-on testing and verification of line and antenna sweeping skills using modern FDR equipment, and a written exam. Basic knowledge of fundamental electronics and wireless communications is recommended. The LAS is a stand-alone certification but may be upgraded to a Journeyman CET by meeting additional requirements. Candidates must pass a written exam.

AET certification recognizes the knowledge base of the advanced aerospace technician and promotes integrity, safety, and professionalism in the aerospace workforce. AET knowledge and skills include basic electronics facts, terminology, and principles, common maintenance practices, fundamentals of equipment maintenance, and aircraft fundamentals. The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Fiber Optics Technician (Outside Plant) (FOT-OSP) is an intermediate-level certification for professionals who terminate, test and troubleshoot single-mode fiber optic communication systems. FOT-OSPs understand optical loss budgets, not to exceed loss budgets and has the knowledge and skills required for troubleshooting single-mode OSP fiber optic communications systems addressing the roles of attenuation, dispersion and refection and how to identify and troubleshoot each. Though ETA-I does not require any specific education, training, or experience for the standalone FOT-OSP, candidates are strongly encouraged to have the requisite knowledge and experience necessary to challenge the exam.

The Residential Electronics Systems Integrator (RESI) is a professional certification for those who design and oversee the installation and integration of electronics systems in residences and light commercial buildings. The objective of the Integrator is to produce a residential or light commercial electronics systems package that will allow all data, control, and communication signals to be integrated at the premise controller and converged into one secure cohesive communication stream, to either be used within the premise or to be passed back and forth through the gateway. The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Photonics Technician Specialist (PTS) certification is an intermediate-level credential for professionals who assemble, measure, test, and repair optical component. PTSs are required to hold Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees. PTSs have competencies in laser and optical components and systems; their work involves laboratory research and development; product development, testing and production. PTSs are specialists who work in teams often for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of lasers, optics, and photonics components and systems; field service specialists for OEMs or companies that manufacture and utilize lasers, optics, and photonics components and systems.

The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Photonics Technician Operator (PTO) certification is an entry-level credential for electronics professionals who assemble, measure, test, and repair optical components. The General Communications Technician Level 2 certification is a journeyman level program modeled after wide-ranging industry communication systems encompassing more specific detailed items along with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) guidelines covering all the disciplines in the COMT program. The purpose of the GCT2 is to provide a certification program and that expands upon the coverage included in the GCT1 competencies. The ETA-I Fiber To The Antenna (FTTA) is a mid-level fiber optic technician credential. The FTTA standalone certification is for individuals who have been trained in the practice of installing fiber optic cabling at wireless and cellular facilities. FTTAs possess training and experience required to safely and competently install pre-terminated fiber optic transmission cable assemblies and connection devices onto equipment and antenna(s), wherever the antenna system may be located. Skills that FTTAs demonstrate include inspecting, cleaning and testing fiber plant as well as identifying and troubleshooting during and after installation.

The American Petroleum Institute (API), Source Inspector Electrical Equipment (SIEE) is a mid-level certification designed for individuals who perform tasks relating to the quality surveillance of materials, equipment and fabrications at the supplier/vendor level in the oil, petrochemical and gas industries. SIEEs act on behalf of purchasers to examine fabricated and manufactured equipment and materials at a supplier's facility, as well as confirm that the supplier's quality management system is being utilized effectively. Candidates for the SIEE must meet educational and experience requirements and must pass a written exam.
