Broadband Voice over Internet Protocol (B-VoIP)
Credential: Broadband Voice over Internet Protocol (B-VoIP)
Credentialing Agency: Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I)
Renewal Period: 4 years
The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Broadband-Voice over Internet Protocol (B-VoIP) certification is an intermediate-level credential for B-VoIP technicians who install, maintain, repair and replace voice, data and video over Internet Protocol equipment. B-VoIP technicians connect B-VoIP equipment to local and wide area computer network systems, perform cable installation, replacement, modernization, and support interconnection between different cable types and wireless equipment; they also configure and provision B-VoIP equipment and transmission media. B-VoIP technicians have knowledge of protocols used for the telecommunications industry and are familiar with telecom industry acronyms and language. Though ETA-I does not require any specific training, education or experience for candidates of the B-VoIP certification, candidates are strongly encouraged to have the requisite knowledge and experience necessary to challenge the exam.
More information can be found on the certifying agency's website.
