The American Petroleum Institute (API), Source Inspector Electrical Equipment (SIEE) is a mid-level certification designed for individuals who perform tasks relating to the quality surveillance of materials, equipment and fabrications at the supplier/vendor level in the oil, petrochemical and gas industries. SIEEs act on behalf of purchasers to examine fabricated and manufactured equipment and materials at a supplier's facility, as well as confirm that the supplier's quality management system is being utilized effectively. Candidates for the SIEE must meet educational and experience requirements and must pass a written exam.

Education/Training and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must hold a high school diploma or GED and have the following years of post-graduation experience:
- 5 years of electrical inspector experience; or
- 7 years of non-inspection electrical experience; or
- 8 years of experience in general inspection with at least two years in electrical experience
Candidate must have a minimum of a 2-year technical degree in an electrical discipline and have the following years of post-graduation experience:
- 2 years of electrical inspector experience; or
- 3 years of non-inspection electrical experience
Candidate must hold a 2-year technical degree and have 5 years of post-graduation experience in general inspection with at least 1 year being in electrical.
Option 4:Candidate must hold a 2-year electrical technical degree and have 4 years of post-graduation experience in general inspection with at least 1 year being in electrical.
Option 5:
Candidate must hold a Bachelor's of Science in any engineering field and have the following years of post-graduation experience:
- 1 1/2 years of electrical inspector or non-inspection electrical experience; or
- 3 years of experience in general inspection with at least 1 year being in electrical
Candidate must hold a Bachelor's of Science in electrical engineering and have half a year of post-graduation experience in electrical inspection or non-inspection electrical experience.
