The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Photonics Technician Specialist (PTS) certification is an intermediate-level credential for professionals who assemble, measure, test, and repair optical component. PTSs are required to hold Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees. PTSs have competencies in laser and optical components and systems; their work involves laboratory research and development; product development, testing and production. PTSs are specialists who work in teams often for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of lasers, optics, and photonics components and systems; field service specialists for OEMs or companies that manufacture and utilize lasers, optics, and photonics components and systems.
