Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Biomedical Electronics Technician (BMD) candidates are expected to obtain knowledge of the principles of modern biomedical techniques, the proper procedure in the care, handling and maintenance of biomedical equipment and to display an attitude/behavior expected of an electronics technician who works in a hospital or healthcare environment. Once the CET has acquired these skills, abilities and knowledge, he or she will be able to enter employment in any part of the biomedical electronics field. Candidates must pass a written examination. The BMD is a Journeyman certification that requires two years of experience and completion of the CETa certification or equivalent.
