This series is applicable when the work of the position: - requires knowledge and skills in two or more professional engineering series within the Engineering and Architecture Group, 0800, and no one discipline is paramount; or - is consistent with engineering work in this occupational group, but is not covered by an established series in this JFS.

Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE) - Air Pollution Control. This specialty credential is for experienced environmental engineers. Candidates must possess, at minimum, a degree in environmental engineering (or any other engineering field acceptable to the Board of Trustees), a professional engineer's license, and at least 8 years of demonstrated environmental engineering and/or teaching experience following receipt of an engineering degree (four of which are in responsible charge). Candidates must be persons of good moral character and of high ethical integrity and professional standing, as determined by the Academy's Board of Trustees, and must also be professionally engaged in environmental engineering activities on a full time basis. Candidates must also pass a written examination, and oral examination. The hour-long oral examination, one part professional practice issues and two parts technical specialty problems, is used to determine a candidate's ethical concepts, maturity, presence of mind, engineering judgment, and ability to apply engineering principles and concepts which cannot be easily measured by written examinations. This certification must be renewed annually, with a prescribed amount of professional education.

Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Professional - Senior. The first level of certification, Technologist GDTP, provides a measure of an individual's ability to understand drawings that have been prepared using the language of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, as defined in the Y14.5 Standard. The second level, Senior GDTP, provides the additional objective measure of an individual's ability to select and apply geometric controls to drawings. A Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Professional might typically be employed as, but not limited to: Design Engineer; CAD/CAM/CAE Specialist; Drafter, Production or Manufacturing Engineer; Process Engineer; Quality Engineer; Tool or Gage Engineer; Engineering Manager; Checker; Engineering Consultant; Educator; Inspector; Contract Engineer; Project Engineer; and Technical Specialist. Candidates must must have five years of documented experience in the field of GD&T in the recognized use of the system in both application and understanding. Candidates must also pass a multiple-choice examination. This credential must be renewed every three years, and may be renewed without examination upon verification of involvement with GD&T for at least 24 of the previous 36 months.

The Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential recognizes professionals in the energy management field who have demonstrated high levels of experience, competence, proficiency, and ethical fitness in the energy management profession. Candidates must meet one of the specified education and or experience requirements to sit for the exam. All CEM candidates must attend a preparatory CEM training seminar, and complete and pass a four-hour written, open-book examination.

Certified Senior Technology Manager (CSTM). This is an advanced-level credential. Certification at the senior level requires a dedication to continuing education, and to promoting your continued growth and development as a professional in the technology field. Candidates must be currently certified in the CEG, CMS, CTM, or CTP programs, or must be eligible for them (i.e., passed the examination, meet education, employment, and ATMAE membership prerequisites). Candidates must also report thirty Professional Development Units (PDUs) of continuing education activity that were completed prior to the application (within prior three years). CSTM certification is renewable every three years, and requires 30 PDUs of continuing education activity within each 3-year CSTM period to be eligible for recertification.

The Associate Engineering Technologist (AT) certification is intended for individuals who have graduated from an engineering technology bachelor's degree program accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC/ABET). An engineering degree will NOT be considered as a substitute for a program from an accredited school. The Associate Engineering Technologist (AT) grade is available upon graduation, No work experience is required for certification at the AT grade.

Professional Engineer License. As a P.E., you would be able to perform certain tasks, such as stamp and seal designs, bid for government contracts, be principal of a firm, perform consulting services, and offer services to the public. While each state licensing board has its own laws regarding engineering licensure, there is a general four-step process for licensure candidates: earn a degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program; pass the FE exam; gain acceptable work experience (typically a minimum of four years); and pass the PE exam in the appropriate discipline. The PE exam tests your ability to practice competently in a particular engineering discipline. It is designed for engineers who have gained at least four years# post-college work experience in their chosen engineering discipline.
