A Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) is a credential offered by the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI). Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of equivalent full-time geospatial experience and meet portfolio requirements. Candidates must also pass the GISCI Geospatial Core Technical Knowledge Exam which covers topics such as: Conceptual Foundations, Cartography and Visualization, GIS Design Aspects and Data Modeling, GIS Analytical Methods, Data Manipulation, and Geospatial Data.

Candidates must submit for a portfolio review comprised of Educational Achievements, Professional Experience, and Contributions to the Profession. A minimum of 150 points must be documented in the above categories. A complete list of the points required can be found on the GISCI webpage.
