This series covers, but is not limited to, the following specialties: Information Systems, Military, Classification, Compensation, Recruitment & Placement, Employee Benefits, Human Resource Development, Performance Management, Employee Relations, and Labor Relations.

The Certification of Disability Management Specialists Commission, Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS) is a professional certification for those wishing to demonstrate credibility and competence in the field. Candidates for the CDMS come from a variety of backgrounds such as human resources, nursing or occupational health. A CDMS may act as a case manager for disability cases, help organize and run disability management programs for employers, and assist in the administering of employment leave and benefits. To obtain the CDMS, candidates must meet eligibility criteria and pass an exam.

The Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification is designed for the HR professional who focuses on program implementation, has a tactical/logistical orientation, is accountable to another HR professional within the organization and has responsibilities that focus on the HR department rather than the whole organization. Candidates should have knowledge in areas including, Business Management, Talent Planning and Acquisition, Total Rewards, Employee and Labor Relations, and Learning and Development. Candidates must meet experience and/or education requirements and pass a written examination.

The Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification is recognized as a professional credential for candidates who have mastered the strategic and policy-making aspects of HR management in the United States. The SPHR is designed for the HR professional who plans, rather than implements, HR policy, and has ultimate accountability in the HR department, breadth and depth of knowledge in all HR disciplines and understands the business beyond the HR function and influences the overall organization. Candidates should have knowledge in areas including, Business Management and Strategy, Workforce Planning and Employment, Human Resource Development, Compensation & Benefits, Employee and Labor Relations, and Risk Management. Candidates must meet experience and/or education requirements and pass a written examination.

Renewal Period: 1 year

The Certified Manager (CM) is a general management certification. It is appropriate for supervisors, managers and leaders at all levels, in any industry, and benefits certificate recipients and their organizations. The CM program consists of 3 course modules of which each includes a study manual, online learning resources, practice exams and a certification exam. To earn the CM certification one must pass three certification exams. Successful completion of the CM exams is a reliable indicator that an individual possesses the skills that leaders and managers need. Eligibility for the CM certification is determined by a point system that considers both experience and education. A candidate must have at least 10 points including at least 3 Education points, and at least 4 Experience points. Candidates may count a maximum of 6 Education points and 7 Experience Points toward eligibility. Those who do not qualify for CM status may still participate in the CM program if they have met at least one of the minimum eligibility requirements. These individuals will earn Associate Certified Manager (ACM) status upon completion of the program. An ACM may earn full CM status through additional education and/or experience.

The International Foundation for Retirement Education (InFRE), Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC), is an intermediate-level credential for professionals who specialize in retirement planning. InFRE requires that CRC candidates meet educational and experiential requirements, abide by the Code of Ethics, and pass an exam.

The Project Management Institute (PMI), Project Management Professional (PMP) is an advanced skill level credential for professionals who lead and direct projects. Project Managers perform their duties under general supervision for the duration of a project and are responsible for all aspects of a project. PMPs lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects within the constraints of schedule, budget, and scope. Project Management Professionals seeking certification through PMI demonstrate knowledge and experience to apply a methodology to projects that have well-defined requirements and deliverables. To apply for the PMP, candidates must meet experiential and educational requirements and are required to pass the written exam.

The Project Management Institute (PMI), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is an entry-level certification for project practitioners. Designed for those with less project experience, the CAPM demonstrates an understanding of the fundamental knowledge, terminology and processes of effective project management. The written exam covers project management areas such as initiation, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closing, and professional and social responsibility. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1500 hours professional experience on a project team or 23 hours of project management education.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), is an intermediate-level credential for human resource professionals who implement policies and strategies, serve as point of contact for staff and stakeholders, deliver HR services, and perform operational HR functions. Candidates must meet the minimum of work and education requirements. Candidates with less than a bachelor's degree must have a minimum of three years of work experience with a HR related degree or four years of work experience with a non-HR related degree. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification is designed for HR professionals at a senior-level who operate primarily in a strategic role—developing policies and strategies, overseeing the execution of HR operations, analyzing performance metrics, and contributing to the alignment of HR strategies to organizational goals. Candidates must meet minimum experiential and educational requirements. Candidate with less than bachelor's degree must have a minimum of six years in a HR role or seven years in a HR role with a non-HR related degree. Candidates must pass a written exam.
