The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), is an intermediate-level credential for human resource professionals who implement policies and strategies, serve as point of contact for staff and stakeholders, deliver HR services, and perform operational HR functions. Candidates must meet the minimum of work and education requirements. Candidates with less than a bachelor's degree must have a minimum of three years of work experience with a HR related degree or four years of work experience with a non-HR related degree. Candidates must pass a written exam.

Education and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidates with less than a bachelor's degree must have 3 years experience in a HR role or 4 years of experience in a non-HR related program.
* Less than a bachelor’s degree includes: working toward a bachelor's degree, associate's degree, some college, qualifying HR certificate program, high school diploma, or GED. Learn about student eligibility.
Candidates with a bachelor's degree must have 1 year of experience in a HR role with a HR-related degree or 2 years in a HR role with a non-HR degree program.
Option 3:Candidates with a graduate degree must be currently in a HR role with a HR-related degree or 1 year in a HR role with a non-HR related degree.
Regardless of education level, one year of experience may be subsituted for a degree in an HR-related field.
