This series covers positions concerned with administration, supervision, training program development, evaluation, or instruction in a program of training when the paramount requirement of the work is a combination of practical knowledge of the methods and techniques of instruction and practical knowledge of the subject-matter being taught. Positions in this series do not have either a paramount requirement of professional knowledge and training in the field of education, or mastery of a trade, craft, or laboring occupation.

Renewal Period: Lifetime

The CTT+ certificate is a cross-industry credential providing recognition that a training professional has mastered core instructor skills. The examinations are based on a set of objectives designed to measure the core knowledge and skills that competent instructors must demonstrate to complete an instructional assignment successfully both in a classroom and a virtual classroom environment, including preparation, presentation, communication, facilitation and evaluation. While the CTT+ Program was first created for computer training and education, the certification can be applied to all industries that provide technical training, non-technical training and education. To earn the CTT+ designation, candidate must pass both a computer-based test that assesses knowledge and a Performance Based in which the candidate demonstrates prescribed skills. There are no experience or education requirements that must be met prior to taking the exam(s).

Renewal Period: 1 year

The Certified Manager (CM) is a general management certification. It is appropriate for supervisors, managers and leaders at all levels, in any industry, and benefits certificate recipients and their organizations. The CM program consists of 3 course modules of which each includes a study manual, online learning resources, practice exams and a certification exam. To earn the CM certification one must pass three certification exams. Successful completion of the CM exams is a reliable indicator that an individual possesses the skills that leaders and managers need. Eligibility for the CM certification is determined by a point system that considers both experience and education. A candidate must have at least 10 points including at least 3 Education points, and at least 4 Experience points. Candidates may count a maximum of 6 Education points and 7 Experience Points toward eligibility. Those who do not qualify for CM status may still participate in the CM program if they have met at least one of the minimum eligibility requirements. These individuals will earn Associate Certified Manager (ACM) status upon completion of the program. An ACM may earn full CM status through additional education and/or experience.

Renewal Period: 3 years

Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) is a credential for learning and performance professionals offered by the ATD Certification Institute. It is broad-based and addresses talent development professionals' knowledge and performance achievements in 10 Areas of Expertise (AOEs) as defined by the ATD 2013 Competency Model. CPLP is for professionals in the learning and performance field who have a minimum of five years of related work experience; ASTD does not have a minimum education requirement for CPLP applicants. Candidates must pass both a knowledge exam and a work product assessment. The work product must pertain to one of the following areas: Instructional Design, Training Delivery, Performance Improvement, and Managing Learning Programs.

The NCCT Certified Postsecondary Instructor (CPI) certification is an intermediate-level professional instructor's credential The CPI is designed primarily for individuals who act in a teaching capacity in postsecondary career or technical college educational programs or healthcare institutions. Candidates are subject matter experts hired to train or instruct others, but do not possess an academic background in education. NCCT requires that candidates meet educational and other requirements.
