The Adolescence and Young Adulthood/English Language Arts certification is appropriate for teachers who teach students ages 14-18+ and who know the full range of the school language arts curriculum, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, have a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the early childhood, elementary, middle school, or high school level, and where it is required, hold a state teaching license. Candidates must pass a computer-based assessment and submit three portfolio entries.

The Adolescence and Young Adulthood/Mathematics certification is appropriate for teachers who teach students ages 14-18+ and who know the full range of the school mathematics curriculum: numbers and operations, algebra and functions; geometry; discrete mathematics; trigonometry; data analysis and statistics; and calculus. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, have a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the early childhood, elementary, middle school, or high school level, and where it is required, hold a state teaching license. Candidates must pass a computer-based assessment and submit three portfolio entries.

The Adolescence and Young Adulthood/Science certification is appropriate for teachers who teach students ages 14-18+ and who know the full range of the school science curriculum: physical sciences, life sciences, and earth and space sciences. This certification includes the following paths: biology, chemistry, earth/space, and physics. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, have a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the early childhood, elementary, middle school, or high school level, and where it is required, hold a state teaching license. Candidates must pass a computer-based assessment and submit three portfolio entries.

The Early Adolescence through Adulthood/Career and Technical Education certification is appropriate for teachers who teach career and technical information subjects to students ages 11-18+ and who know industry-specific subject matter. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution if required for state licensure, have a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the early childhood, elementary, middle school, or high school level, and where it is required, hold a state teaching license. Candidates must pass a computer-based assessment and submit three portfolio entries.

The NCCT Certified Postsecondary Instructor (CPI) certification is an intermediate-level professional instructor's credential The CPI is designed primarily for individuals who act in a teaching capacity in postsecondary career or technical college educational programs or healthcare institutions. Candidates are subject matter experts hired to train or instruct others, but do not possess an academic background in education. NCCT requires that candidates meet educational and other requirements.

The Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood/Health Education certification is appropriate for teachers of students ages 11-18+. The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards has developed 11 Standards of accomplished practice for health education teachers. They each describe an important facet of accomplished teaching; they often occur concurrently because of the seamless quality of teaching. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, have a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the early childhood, elementary, middle school, or high school level, and where it is required, hold a state teaching license. Candidates must pass a computer-based assessment and submit three portfolio entries.

This certification includes the following paths: band, orchestra, and vocal. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, have a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the early childhood, elementary, middle school, or high school level, and where it is required, hold a state teaching license. The Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood/World Languages certification is appropriate for teachers who teach Spanish or French to students ages 11-18+ and whose functional ability in the language they teach is at an advanced level. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, have a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the early childhood, elementary, middle school, or high school level, and where it is required, hold a state teaching license. In addition to the National Board candidate eligibility prerequisites, World Languages candidates must meet the National Board World Languages Standards for language proficiency by providing official American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) certified ratings of Advanced Low or higher from two ACTFL assessments: the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and the Writing Proficiency Test (WPT). Candidates must pass a computer-based assessment and submit three portfolio entries.
