The Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) is an advanced skill level certification that demonstrates competencies for those engaged in governmental purchasing, and attests that a purchaser has reached a specific level of education and experience and is knowledgeable about government purchasing. Candidates must pass an exam that covers the following topics: administrative aspects of purchasing; sourcing; the negotiation process; contract administration; supply management; and strategic procurement planning. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree, five years of public procurement experience, and additional training and/or coursework in the area of procurement.

Education REQUIREMENTS
Applicants for the CPPO are required to have earned a Bachelor's Degree.
Experience REQUIREMENTS
Applicants are required to have 5 years of public procurement experience completed within the previous ten (10) years of which a minimum of 3 years is in a management or supervisory position.
Training REQUIREMENTS
Coursework/Training can be satisfied through the completion of one of the following three options:
Option 1:3 credit hours of public procurement coursework AND 72 contact hours of "instructor-led" procurement training/education
Option 2:6 credit hours of procurement-related coursework AND 72 contact hours of "instructor-led" procurement training/education
Option 3:174 contact hours of "instructor-led" procurement training/education
Other REQUIREMENTS
The Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) credential has the following other requirements:
