The Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) is a mid-level certification appropriate for non-managers who work as public buyers. Individuals pursuing the certification demonstrate an ability to obtain the maximum value for the taxpayer's dollar. To pass the certification exam, applicants should be knowledgeable in the areas of procurement administration, sourcing, negotiation, contract administration, supply management and procurement planning. Applicants must hold an Associate's degree, have three years of public procurement experience, and have additional training in the area of procurement.

Education REQUIREMENTS
Applicants for the CPPB are required to have earned an Associate's Degree.
Experience REQUIREMENTS
Applicants are required to have 3 years of public procurement experience, which occurred within the previous ten (10) years.
Training REQUIREMENTS
Coursework/Training can be satisfied through the completion of one of the following three options:
Option 1:3 credit hours of public procurement coursework AND 56 contact hours of "instructor-led" procurement training/education
Option 2:6 credit hours of procurement-related coursework AND 56 contact hours of "instructor-led" procurement training/education
Option 3:158 contact hours of "instructor-led" procurement training/education
Other REQUIREMENTS
The Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) credential has the following other requirements:
