This standard is used to grade all nonsupervisory jobs involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of high temperature water and high-pressure piping systems such as hydraulic, nitrogen, oxygen, steamheating, and steam-generating systems.

To earn the CC certification, candidates must pass a written exam and a job performance exam.

The International Fluid Power Society (IFPS), Hydraulic Specialist (HS) certification is for professionals in the fluid power and motion control industry who design systems, write specifications, and size and select components for hydraulic systems. To earn the HS certification, candidates must pass a written exam.

ISA's Certified Control Systems Technician Program (CCST) offers third-party recognition of technicians' knowledge and skills in automation and control. CCSTs calibrate, document, troubleshoot, and repair/replace instrumentation for systems that measure and control level, temperature, pressure, flow, and other process variables. CCST certifications are available at three levels, and each level requires the successful completion of an examination. The CCST examination is only one requirement for certification. The candidate must also meet minimum requirements comprised of work experience and education.

Renewal Period: 1 year

The National Ground Water Association (NGWA), Certified Pump Installer (CPI) is an intermediate-level credential for groundwater technicians. CPIs are often contractors who coordinate not just the ground water pump installation at a site, but related efforts. CPIs are expected to meet experience requirements and to have knowledge of specialized equipment use, geologic formations, and pump troubleshooting skills. Candidates must take a written exam.

The API 570 Piping Inspector Certification is based on API Standard 570, Piping Inspection Code: Inspection, Repair, Alteration, and Rerating of In-Service Piping Systems; and RP 574, Inspection of Piping, Tubing, Valves, and Fittings. The program promotes self-regulation and establishes a uniform program that assists state and local governments in process piping regulations. Candidate must be employed by or under contract to an authorized inspection agency or owner/user organization. Candidate must have one of the combinations of education and experience included on the website to qualify for taking the written examination.

Fire sprinklerfitter Mastery. Candidates must have a minimum of five years experience in the installation of piping systems. Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or verification of five years experience by employers is required. Candidates must also pass an open-book examination. The examination covers the topics of water supply systems, system components, spacing, location, and positioning of sprinklers, wet pipe systems, dry pipe systems, reaction and deluge systems, specialty systems, and inspection. This credential must be renewed every five years, which can be done by successfully passing a fifty question, non-proctored, multiple choice open book examination.

A STAR Steamfitting-Pipefitting Mastry certification candidate is a qualified individual who can demonstrate mastery of the trade and will be skilled and experienced in fabricating, preparing, rigging and installing pipes, tubing and equipment by following plans, specifications, SOP's and standard pipefitting practices in order to comply with local and jurisdictional codes and help to complete the job/project safely, on schedule and to the satisfaction of the customer. Candidates should have completed a UA training program or equivalent and/or have five years of experience in the industry. Candidates must pass a written examination.

The API 1169 Pipeline Inspector Certification program was developed for mid-level pipeline inspection professionals. This program tests an applicant's knowledge in relevant codes and standards necessary to perform inspection activities during construction of new onshore pipelines. Qualified individuals should be knowledgeable about general pipeline construction inspection, inspector responsibilities, personnel and general pipeline safety, and environmental and pollution control. The API 1169 certification is valid for a three-year term.

The ICC Plumbing Code Specialist - P8 is an intermediate-level professional credential for individuals who specialize in the plumbing systems in buildings. The CS examination module is required for candidates pursuing a Code Specialist combination designation. This module serves to test the candidate's knowledge of the legal concerns, management issues, and communication skills that are necessary for an ICC Code Specialist.
