The CertTEC Aviation Mechanical Assembly certification is an entry-level credential designed for aviation assembly mechanics. Assessments of the technician's skills and knowledge focuses on the introduction to aviation, blueprint reading, precision instruments, power island and hand tools, fasteners and fastener installation inspection, drilling and riveting, sealing application and sealing safety and electrical bonding and grounding. This certification is closely aligned with the curriculum taught at the National Aviation Consortium (NAC) centers and specifically the National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT).

Option 1:

Applicant should have completed advance training in the field of aviation mechanical assembly .

Option 2:

Applicant should have at least two years of work experience in the field of aviation mechanical assembly .

Option 3:

Applicant should be an active or veteran military personnel whose rating or assignment is or was in the field of aviation structure.

Option 4:

Applicant should be a college or technical school graduate with two-year degree in discipline related to the aviation structure discipline.

Performance Exam Requirements

Applicants will be required to demonstrate the ability to properly apply aviation mechanical assembly skills as directed by a qualified CertTEC examiner. CertTEC oral and practical exams must be taken at testing sites. Aviation Mechanical Assembly Technician

Renewal Period: 3 years

The Aviation Mechanical Assembly Technician credential has the following recertification information:

  • The CertTEC certifications are valid for three years from issuance. To renew certification, the agency offers 3 options– the Work Verification Method, the Alternate Method that involves earning a minimum of 18 Alternate Recertification Credits (ARCs), or lastly the Equivalent Knowledge Exam Method. Additional recertification details can be obtained from CertTEC Recertification Policy.
