The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), Broadband Premises Installer (BPI) is an entry-level credential designed for technicians who can install and troubleshoot telecommunications services (video, voice, and data) at customers’ premises. BPI candidates should have knowledge to perform routine installations, disconnects, pre-wires, change of service, and multiple dwelling unit (MDU) wiring for cable television (video, voice, and data) for residential customers. The BPI certification is a foundation certification as well as one of three stand-alone Broadband Premises certifications. BPI candidates must pass a written exam.

The Broadband Premises Installer (BPI) credential has the following recertification information:

BPI certification is renewable every three years. BPI certification holders must earn 12 Recertification Units (RUs) to maintain certification without having to re-take the exam.
