The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Undercar Specialist Exhaust Systems (X1) certification is for technicians who can demonstrate knowledge of the skills necessary to diagnose and repair automobile brakes, suspension and steering, and exhaust systems. To earn the Undercar Specialist Exhaust Systems (X1) certification, candidates must be currently certified in both Automobile/Light Truck - Suspension and Steering (A4) and Automobile/Light Truck -Brakes (A5), have at least two years of hands-on work experience, and pass a written exam.
