Transportation: Highway Materials - Level II

Credential: Transportation: Highway Materials - Level II  GI Bill resource
Credentialing Agency: National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET)

Renewal Period: 3 years

The Highway Materials certification program is for highway engineering technicians involved in laboratory and field testing of highway materials such as aggregates, asphalts, concrete, soils, paints, and metals. This program addresses knowledge of techniques and equipment; recordkeeping and reporting procedures pertaining to materials and quality control; and supervisory techniques. Level II is for technicians who perform routine tasks under general daily supervision. Certification at Levels II, III, and IV does not require prior certification at the lower level, but it does require meeting the certification requirements of the lower levels. Candidates must have two years of experience relevant to highway materials. Candidates must obtain a Supervisor's verification of all work elements and take and pass a written examination.

More information can be found on the certifying agency's website.
