An Oracle database certification equips individuals to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and fine-tune all aspects of an Oracle database. Oracle certified database administrators keep an Oracle database environment running at maximum efficiency. The OCM (Oracle Certified Master) is the top-tiered level of the DBA track. The Oracle Certified Master credential is for Oracle Certified Professionals with advanced training and are recommended to have at least 3 - 4 years of professional enterprise-level Oracle experience for Oracle Database 11g or Oracle Database 10g. To become an Oracle Certified Master a candidate must complete two required advanced DBA courses from Oracle University and pass an Oracle Certified Master exam. To be eligible to take the OCM exams a candidate must already have passed the Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional or Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Professional and have completed two approved advanced courses.

To be eligible to take the OCM exams a candidate must have obtained the Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional or Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Professional credential.

To become an Oracle Certified Master a candidate must complete two required advanced training courses.  Courses used to fulfill the OCP training requirement may not be used again to fulfill the OCM training requirement.

The Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Master credential has the following recertification information:

  • Certification credentials will be CURRENT or RETIRED according to their version (e.g 9i, 10g, 11g, 12c etc.). Candidates who hold an Oracle Certified Database Administrator Associate, Professional, Expert and/or Master credential on a RETIRED version have 12 months to to earn a credential on a CURRENT (non-retired) version of Oracle Database to remain in ACTIVE status. All candidates that hold Oracle Database credential in ACTIVE status will have all their credentials remain in ACTIVE status, even if the credentials are retired.

Additional considerations for the Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Master include:

  • Candidates are recommended to have 3-4 years of professional enterprise-level Oracle experience.  Candidates should also have the following:
    • Extensive experience with backup, restore and recovery operations
    • Proficiency with SQL
    • Working knowledge of LINUX command language
    • Ability to locate and launch Oracle executables
    • Proficiency with Oracle Enterprise Manager
    • Proficiency using Oracle Net Manager and the Oracle Net Configuration Assistance to configure networks
    • Advanced knowledge and use of Oracle Enterprise Server technology and features
    • Familiarity navigating through online Oracle documentation
    • Proficiency with using Mozilla 1.6 browser software
