The ICML Level I Machine Lubricant Analyst (MLA I) is an entry-level certification. MLA I certification is for in-plant technicians responsible for the daily activities associated with lubrication tasks. MLA I applicants conduct basic lubricant analysis for machine condition monitoring. Applicants must have knowledge in the areas of lubricant delivery, storage and dispensation, managing delivery of machinery re-lubrication and/or inspection, and of how to properly change and/or top the oil in mechanical equipment found in common industrial sites. Applicants must also be able to use simple techniques to select lubricants with the proper base oil and additive system for machinery commonly found in industrial settings. MLA I applicants should have an understanding of oil changes, greasing bearings, lubricant receiving and proper storage and care of lubricants; dispensing devices and basic oil sampling, contamination control and problem detection.

Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have at least 12 months experience in the field of lubricant-analysis-based machinery condition monitoring.
Training REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must have received 24 hours of documented formal training as outlined in the Body of Knowledge of the MLA I.
