The National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO), Lift Director-Tower Cranes (TLD) certification is designed for lift directors who have been trained and/or have extensive knowledge gained from experience in the crane industry. TLD candidates must be at least 18 years of age, meet medical requirements, comply with NCCCO's Substance Abuse Policy and Code of Ethics, and pass four written exams.

Other REQUIREMENTS
The Lift Director-Tower Cranes (TLD) credential has the following other requirements:
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
- Candidates must comply with NCCCO's Substance Abuse Policy and Code of Ethics.
- Candidates must be in good physical health, as verified by a medical professional, sufficient enough to handle the physical demands that directing lifts requires.
Candidates seeking TLD certification are required to pass the following written exams:
- Lift Director Core
- Lift Director Tower Crane Specialty
- Tower Crane Operator
- Rigger Level II
Note: CCO-certified Tower Crane Operators are not required to take the Tower Crane Operator written exam. CCO-certified Level II Riggers are not required to take the Rigger Level II written exam.
