RECERTIFICATION

Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel - Radioactive Materials (IRSSP - RAM)

Renewal Period: 5 years

The Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel - Radioactive Materials (IRSSP - RAM) credential has the following recertification information:

  • Certificants must meet training and experience requirements and take the examination to renew ASNT IRSSP Certifications.  In lieu of training requirements, candidates may have 40 hours of training within 5 years prior to recertification.  Training shall consist of classroom training, annual refresher training by an institution recognized by ASNT covering basic radiation safety principles and equipment operating and emergency procedures for radiation producing equipment for which renewal is sought.

Additional considerations for the Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel - Radioactive Materials (IRSSP - RAM) include:

  • Acceptance of the IRRSP radiation safety certification within a state is solely at the discretion of the state in question. However, states that do recognize “approved certifying entities” will accept the IRRSP certifications because ASNT is an approved Certifying Entity. Questions regarding acceptability should be directed to the department governing the state’s radiation control program. A listing of State Regulatory Agencies can be found here.
