The International Fluid Power Society (IFPS), Fluid Power System Designer certification is for professionals in the fluid power and motion control industry with advanced, system level hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic controls expertise. Fluid Power System Designer candidates must hold the IFPS Hydraulic Specialist certification, the IFPS Pneumatic Specialist certification, and the IFPS Electronic Controls Specialist certification and have passed the IFPS Fluid Power Connector and Conductor written exam. Candidates must also provide five professional references, have verifiable fluid power design experience, and have a minimum of six years of system design experience or a combination of four years of system design experience and a specific education or certification credential.

Credential Pre-requisite REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must hold the following three IFPS Fluid Power Specialist certifications:
Education and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have six years of system design experience.
Option 2:Candidates must hold an Associate Fluid Power degree and have four years of system design experience.
Option 3:Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and have four years of system design experience.
Option 4:Candidates must hold a Certified Fluid Power Accredited Instructor (CFPAI) certification and have four years of system design training experience.
Other REQUIREMENTS
The Fluid Power System Designer credential has the following other requirements:
- Candidates must agree to adhere to the IFPS Code of Ethics.
- Candidates must have passed the IFPS Fluid Power Connector and Conductor written exam.
- Candidates must provide five signed professional references.
