The Fire Protection: Fire Alarm Systems - Level III credential is designed for advanced mid-level engineering technicians working in the fire alarm industry who engage in a combination of the following fire alarm systems activities: system layout (plan preparation), system equipment selection, system installation, system acceptance testing, system trouble-shooting, system servicing, and system technical sales. The Fire Protection: Fire Alarm Systems program comprises four levels of certification. Candidates must meet the minimum eligibility requirements for the Level I, II, and III Fire Alarm Systems and pass those written exams. This certification also requires a Supervisor's verification of all work elements used to meet the candidate application requirement. Candidates must have a minimum of five years in the field of fire detection and signaling system.

Credential Pre-requisite REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must meet Fire Alarm Systems Level I and II requirements.
Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must have a total of five years of fire detection and signaling systems experience, which must cover at least 33 months of fire alarm systems experience. Relevant experience may consist of but is not limited to the following; installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, commissioning, technical system estimating and sales, plan preparation, code compliance review, project management, and/or technical business management.
Three years of experience must entail field experience, team leadership, and at least one year of work in a fire alarm systems technical management role. For additional eligibility requirements, see the Certification Application Package.
Other REQUIREMENTS
The Fire Protection: Fire Alarm Systems - Level III credential has the following other requirements:
- Candidate is required to submit a personal recommendation showing their ability for performing independent engineering technician responsibilities.
