The National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), Electrical Power Testing - Level III certification is an intermediate-level credential designed for technicians who test equipment used in the production, transmission, and distribution of electrical power. The certification validates knowledge required to inspect, test and maintain electrical power equipment. Electrical Power Testing - Level III technicians manage switching procedures; conduct tests of complex (multi-function) equipment; analyze test and equipment data; and plan a job and lead a team. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of practical experience in the testing of electrical power equipment, including a full range of equipment in low, medium, and high voltage systems and one year of supervision and project management of two or three-person test crews. Candidates must pass a written examination.

Credential Pre-requisite REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for the Electrical Power Testing - Level III certification must meet the experiential and exam requirements for the Electrical Power Testing - Level II certification.
Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must have five years of practical experience in the testing of electrical power equipment, including a full range of equipment in low, medium, and high voltage systems including 1 year of supervision and project management of two or three-person test crews.
Other REQUIREMENTS
The Electrical Power Testing - Level III credential has the following other requirements:
- NICET requires Electrical Power Testing candidates to submit the NICET Application Package which includes materials related to work history and performance measures. Additional details and documentation required to complete the Electrical Power Testing experience package can be obtained from the NICET website.
- The Electrical Power Testing Level III credential requires that candidates obtain a Personal Recommendation which shows a capacity for Independent engineering technician responsibilities.
