Credentialing Agency: American Board for Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN)
The American Board for Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN), Case Management is an intermediate-level certification for professionals who coordinate health care services for individuals following illness or injury. The occupational health nurse case manager coordinates efforts of health care teams to facilitate an individual client's health care services from the onset of injury or illness to safe return to work or optimal alternative. Case management includes the development of preventive systems and the mobilization of appropriate resources for care over the course of the health event. Care is delivered with the objective of returning the worker to pre-illness or pre-injury function or to the highest level of functioning achievable. Candidates for the Case Management certification are required to be current licensed RNs or international equivalent and must pass the exam.
