The International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council), Certified Network Defender (CND) certification program focuses on creating Network Administrators who are trained on protecting, detecting and responding to the threats on the network. Network administrators are usually familiar with network components, traffic, performance and utilization, network topology, location of each system, security policy, etc. A CND will get the fundamental understanding of the true construct of data transfer, network technologies, software technologies so that the they understand how networks operate, understand what software is automating and how to analyze the subject material. Candidates must attend official training or have at least 2 years of work experience in the Information Security domain to qualify to sit for the CND exam.

Education/Training and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidate may attend official CND instructor-led training (ILT), computer-based training (CBT), online live training, academic learning or has been certified in a previous version of the credential.
Option 2:In order to be considered for the EC-Council certification exam without attending official training, candidate must have at least 2 years of work experience in the Information Security domain and an educational background that reflects specialization in Information Security.

Prior to attempting the exam, candidates are required to AGREE to:
- EC-Council Non-Disclosure Agreement terms
- EC-Council Candidate Certification Agreement terms
- EC-Council Candidate Application Agreement terms (found in Appendix B of the Candidate Handbook)

The age requirement for attending the training or attempting the exam is restricted to any candidate that is at least 18 years old.
If the candidate is under the age of 18, they are not eligible to attend the official training or eligible to attempt the certification exam unless they provide the accredited training center/EC-Council a written consent of their parent/legal guardian and a supporting letter from their institution of higher learning. Only applicants from nationally accredited institution of higher learning shall be considered.

Certified Network Defender (CND)
Renewal Period: 3 years
The Certified Network Defender (CND) credential has the following recertification information:
- The CND credential is valid for a 3-year period but can be renewed each period by successfully earning EC-Council Continued Education (ECE) credits. Certified members will have to achieve a total of 120 credits (per certification) within a period of three years.
