The National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), Construction Materials Testing: Concrete - Level II is a mid-level credential for field and laboratory associate engineering technicians who test and inspect construction concrete. Candidates for NICET certification at Level II in Construction Materials Testing – Concrete should have the knowledge, experience and skills needed to work more independently than Level I technicians. Under supervision, candidates should be able to determine sampling frequencies and procedures (for example, ASTM and AASHTO); conduct a variety of aggregate and concrete mix tests; monitor concrete plant operations; inspect forms, shoring and concrete reinforcement; follow safe work practices; apply job hazards analyses; perform equipment calibration; verify equipment operation and perform equipment maintenance; perform math calculations and report test results and observations. Candidates are required to meet experience requirements including, pass an exam and obtain a supervisor’s verification of satisfying experience requirements.

Credential Pre-requisite REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for the Level II credential must satisfy requirements of the NICET Materials Testing: Concrete - Level I certification.
Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have a minimum of 24 months of direct involvement in activities related to construction materials testing.
Candidates must have 12 month of full-time experience in testing concrete mixes and components, within the 24 month requirement.
Up to 12 months of a candidate's experience may include full-time experience in some combination of soils, concrete, and/or other related construction materials testing.

The Construction Materials Testing: Concrete - Level II credential has the following other requirements:
- NICET requires that Construction Materials Testing: Concrete certification candidates obtain their supervisor’s verification of all Subfields/Technical Areas used to meet the experience requirement.
