The Certified Video Engineer (CEV) is a mid-level certification. Video engineers are broadcast engineering professionals who work with television signals rather than radio. In addition to operating broadcasting equipment, video engineers develop the settings needed on engineering equipment, install upgrades or updates to the equipment and perform repairs when necessary. The candidate for Certified Video Engineer must have five (5) years of suitable experience in audio/video engineering or related technology and must achieve a passing grade on the proficiency examination.

Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must have five years of suitable experience in audio/video engineering or related technology. Substitution of broadcast engineering, or education in related technologies, for experience may be made as follows:
- A state registered Professional Engineer's license equals 4 years of experience .
- A Bachelor Degree equals 4 years of experience.
- An Associate Degree equals 2 years of experience.
- Years of related accredited education, i.e., military, correspondence, etc. can be substituted, year for year, for up to four (4) years of experience.
