The International Code Council (ICC) Commercial Plumbing Inspector certification validates an individual's basic technical knowledge, education and related experience as an inspector. The certification holder demonstrates the ability to conduct inspections of plumbing systems to ensure they are safe and legal and has a strong knowledge of building and plumbing codes. The individual will have an understanding of factors such as: Fixtures, Water Heaters, Water Supply and Distribution, Sanitary and Storm Drainage, Vents, Interceptors, Separators, and Special Piping as it applies to code compliance when conducting inspections. There are no experience requirements, education requirements, or pre-requisites that must be met prior to taking the written exam. However, individuals seeking the Commercial Plumbing Inspector certification should have technical knowledge and related experience in their chosen field of expertise. Candidates are required to pass a multiple-choice written exam with at least a 75%.
