The Institute of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals (ICCIFP), Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) is for individuals in the practice of construction financial management, as well as those who directly support clients in a professional services capacity. CCIFP candidates must meet an education and/or experience requirement prior to submitting an application and meet a professional experience requirement after passing the CCIFP written exam.

All candidates who pass the CCIFP exam must have 4,000 hours of experience in construction-related activities within the last five years.

Note: The experience must be in a professional financial position for a construction contractor or as a provider of accounting and/or financial services to the construction industry. Candidates may earn the hours before and/or after passing the CCIFP exam.

Candidates must meet one of the following eligibility options prior to submitting a CCIFP certification exam application:

Option 1:

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree, or higher, from an accredited college or university, including at least 12 credit hours in business-related coursework (accounting, finance, and management). There is no experience requirement to submit an application with a bachelor's degree or higher.

Option 2:

Candidates must have an associate degree from an accredited college or university, including at least 12 credit hours in business-related coursework (accounting, finance, and management) AND 4,000 hours of experience, in a professional financial position, working for a construction company in its accounting and/or finance department, or as a provider of accounting and/or financial services to the construction industry.

Option 3:

Candidates must have a high school diploma, or GED equivalent AND 8,000 hours of experience, in a professional financial position, working for a construction company in its accounting and/or finance department, or as a provider of accounting and/or financial services to the construction industry.

The Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) credential has the following recertification information:

  • The ICCIFP certification is renewed every three years. Certification holders must complete 72 hours of continuing education, reaffirm the ICCIFP Code of Ethics, and pay an annual recertification fee.
