The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Automobile Service Consultant (C1) is designed to improve the quality of vehicle service through the voluntary testing and certification of Service Consultant professionals. Candidates must have knowledge in communications, customer and internal relations, vehicle systems knowledge, sales skills, and shop operations. To become ASE certified, candidates must pass the Service Consultant test and show proof of two years of on-the-job work experience as an automotive service writer/consultant or service manager.
