The American Petroleum Institute (API), TES Tank Entry Supervisor (API TES) certification is geared to candidates with minimum knowledge, experience, and skills needed to safely perform duties required by tank entry supervisors. API TES candidates must have knowledge of above ground petroleum storage tanks and their construction. Candidates must also have knowledge of how to plan, prepare for and address potential hazards during the tank entry, ventilation and entire job process of tank cleaning and maintenance. Candidates must meet the minimum education and experience eligibility requirements and must pass a written exam.

Education and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must have a High school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of experience in confined space (AST) related activities of which 1 year must be in a Supervisor's capacity.
Option 2:Candidate must have a two-year degree or 2-year certificate in engineering or technology and 2 years of experience in confined space (AST) related activities of which 1 year must be in a Supervisor’s capacity.
Option 3:Candidate must have a BS or higher in engineering or technology and 1 year of supervisory experience in confined space (AST) related activities.
