Occupational Hearing Conservationist (OHC) is an entry-level certification for individuals who can conduct the practice of hearing conservation, including a pure-tone air conduction hearing evaluation and other associated duties under appropriate supervision, and who can function with other members of the occupational hearing conservation program team. OHCs are audiologists, physicians, occupational health nurses, human resources directors, workplace safety officers or any person interested in occupational hearing conservation or appointed by management to perform audiometric testing or enforce HCP compliance. Candidates must complete a Council for Accreditation of Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC)-approved, 20-hour certification course and earn a passing score on the exam.
