Fire Marshals understand human resources laws and regulations, stakeholder relationships, and effectively communicate with contractors, homeowners, subordinates, superiors, news media, elected officials, and civic organizations. Candidates for the Certified Fire Marshal are required to take and pass the ICC Management Module exam, the ICC Legal Module exam, and the ICC Fire Codes and Standards exam. There are no experience or education requirements that must be met prior to taking the exams; however, individuals seeking the Fire Marshal certification should have technical knowledge and related experience in their chosen field of expertise.
