International Association for Identification (IAI), Certified Crime Scene Investigator (CCSI) is aimed at the beginning crime scene investigator who responds to crime scenes as a portion of their full-time job duties by assisting in the basic methodology of completing a thorough crime scene investigation. Eligibility requirements for CCSI include formal education, technical training, experience, two letters of endorsement, and two references. Applicants must pass a written exam.

Education REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Experience REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be currently employed full-time in an occupation that includes crime scene related activities and have a minimum of one year of full time-employment in crime scene related activities.
Training REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have completed a minimum of 48 hours of IAI Crime Scene Certification Board approved instruction in crime scene related courses within the last five years.
Other REQUIREMENTS
The Certified Crime Scene Investigator (CCSI) credential has the following other requirements:
- Applicants must be of good moral character, high integrity, good repute, and must possess a high ethical and professional standing.
- Applicants must agree to abide by IAI's Code of Ethics included in IAI's Certification Operations Manual.
- Applicants must submit two letters of endorsement from employers/supervisors or individuals who have knowledge of the applicant's experience as it relates to crime scene investigation.
- Applicants must submit two references from sources other than those who submitted letters of endorsement. References should be professional colleagues who can discuss the applicant's work experience and performance.
