The International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), Certified Electrical Inspector-Master (CEI-M) is for individuals who possess electrical inspection principles, knowledge, and code application skills at the Master Electrical Inspector level as defined in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Electrical Inspection Manual. To earn the CEI-M certification, applicants must be a high school graduate or equivalent and meet a training, higher education or experience requirement. Applicants must also pass a written exam and complete a field practicum requirement.

Education REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED.
Education/Training and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must have completed a Registered Electrical Apprenticeship Training Program.
Option 2:Applicant must have an associate degree in Electrical Construction Technology (or equivalent).
Option 3:Applicant must be a Journeyman Electrician (or equivalent) or Master Electrician.
Option 4:Applicant must have a BS in Electrical Engineering or PE in Electrical Engineering.
Option 5:Applicant must have 8,000 hours as an electrician.
Option 6:Applicant must have 4,000 hours as an electrical inspector.

Performance Exam Requirements
Thirty inspections must be conducted and reported. An applicant must complete items on a performance checklist and a verification form must be signed by a supervisor for each inspection.
Additionally, a Supervisor’s Evaluation Form is required to indicate an applicant's pass/fail for at least eight inspections. The 30 inspections must include the following (a senior inspector or manager must supervise eight of the following inspections):
- At least five must be one and two family dwellings. Five must be supervised inspections.
- At least one must be a multi-family dwelling. One must be supervised.
- At least five must be commercial or industrial inspections. One must be supervised.
- At least five must include service inspections. One must be supervised.
