The Certifying Board for Dietary Managers (CBDM), Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM-CFPP) certification is for candidates who have education and experience to competently perform the responsibilities of a dietary manager. CDM-CFPPs work together with registered dietitians to provide quality nutritional care for clients in a variety of non-commercial settings and perform a myriad of tasks such as managing foodservice operations, ensuring food safety, implementing menus, foodservice purchasing, food preparation, applying nutrition principles, documenting nutrition information, and managing work teams. To earn the CDM-CFPP, candidates can qualify with training, education or a combination of education and experience. Candidates must pass a nationally-recognized credentialing exam.

Education/Training and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Graduate from an Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP) approved foodservice manager training program, which includes 120 hours of didactic education plus 150 hours of field experience.
Pathway 2:Hold a two-year or four-year college degree in foodservice management, nutrition, culinary arts, or hotel-restaurant management; completed coursework must include a minimum of one course in nutrition and two courses in foodservice management.
Pathway 3:Graduate from a comprehensive 90-hour foodservice course curriculum and have a minimum of two years of institutional foodservice management experience; curriculum must include a minimum of one course in nutrition and two courses in foodservice management.
Pathway 4:Be a current or former member of the U.S. military who has graduated from an approved military dietary manager training program and has attained the grade of E-5.
Pathway 5:Hold an alternate two-year, four-year or higher degree and have a minimum of five years of institutional foodservice management experience; candidates must also have completed one course in nutrition and two courses in foodservice management.
