The Green Advantage Certified Practitioner (GACP) is a mid-level credential for individuals who are construction supervisors, journeyman-level construction workers, architects, engineers, or advanced engineering students. Candidates must understand green building methods and materials; must possess knowledge of green building best practices, including meeting and exceeding green project goals in building performance, worker and occupant health and safety, crew collaboration and costs. GACP candidates must pass an exam.

Candidates should have experiences or training as experienced supervisors across trades, such as construction supervisor, journey worker, architect, engineer or as an advanced student.

The Green Advantage Certified Practitioner (GACP) credential has the following other requirements:

  • Candidates must agree to sign the GACP Registration Agreement prior to taking the exam. More information can be found in the Certification Handbook GACA/GACP.

    Candidates that are also members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) can earn continuing education credits after passing the GACP exam. More information can be found in the AIA/CES Program Workbook, a supplement to the GACP Study Guide.

Green Advantage Certified Practitioner (GACP)

Renewal Period: 5 years

The Green Advantage Certified Practitioner (GACP) credential has the following recertification information:

  • The GACP certification is renewable every five years for exams taken after January 1, 2013. Exams taken before January 1, 2013, the certification is valid for three years. GACP certification holders must take an exam to maintain certification. Certification holders must also pay related fees.

Indicates the credential may have funding through the MOS proponent. Some proponents offer credentialing opportunities in conjunction with military training and/or as part of MOS development beyond the training base.

CG Bucks

Coming Soon - Coast Guard policy regarding service member eligibility requirements to participate in the Voluntary Credentialing Program is under review with a projected release date of first quarter FY20.
