The National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), Electrical Power Testing - Level IV certification is an advanced-level credential for technicians who test equipment used in the production, transmission, and distribution of electrical power. The certification validates knowledge required to inspect, test and maintain electrical power equipment. Electrical Power Testing - Level IV technicians conduct tests of complex metering and relay systems; evaluate tests, test equipment, test results, and power system performance; recommend actions to maintain or improve system performance; and lead multi-team projects. Candidates must have a minimum of ten years of practical experience in the testing of complex electrical power equipment and systems, technical evaluation of tests and test data, and recommendations of additional diagnostic testing and corrective actions. The candidate's experience must include at least two years of supervision and project management of multi-crew projects. Candidates must pass a written examination, provide details of the successful completion of a major electrical power testing project, and submit a personal recommendation.

Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have ten years of practical experience in the testing of complex electrical power equipment and systems, technical evaluation of tests and test data, and recommendations of additional diagnostic testing and corrective actions. This must include at least two years of supervision and project management of multi-crew projects. In addition to this requirement, it’s highly recommended the candidate obtain recommendation ratings showing a capacity for senior engineering technician responsibilities.
Candidates must provide a detailed description of a major project and his or her role in it showing senior responsibility for an electrical power testing project of substantial complexity.
