The Institute for Energy Management Professionals, Energy Professionals International (EPI) ISO 50001 Lead Auditor certification is an intermediate-level credential for professionals who plan, lead and manage ISO 50001 audit teams. ISO 50001 supports organizations' efficient energy use and the development of energy management systems (EnMS). ISO 50001 Lead Auditors assess conformity with the ISO 50001- Energy management systems standard; this includes confirming continual improvement of energy performance and any additional organizational requirements, plus documenting and reporting audit findings based upon objective evidence. Candidates for the ISO 50001 Lead Auditor certification are required to meet experiential and educational criteria and must pass an exam.

Education and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must hold a technical academic 3- or more -year degree from accredited educational institution in one of the following technical fields - energy management, engineering, architecture, science, or math and have 48 months of work experience with a minimum of 15 audit days.
Option 2:Candidate must hold a non-technical academic 3- or more -year degree from an accredited educational institution in other disciplines and have 60 months of work experience and a minimum of 15 audit days.
Option 3:Candidate must hold a technical vocational 2-year minimum degree from an accredited educational institution in a technical field and have 72 months of work experience with a minimum of 15 audit days.
Option 4:Candidate must meet other educational or academic credentials and have 96 months of work experience with a minimum of 15 audit days.
Other REQUIREMENTS
The Energy Professionals International (EPI) ISO 50001 Lead Auditor credential has the following other requirements:

Documentation of 15 audit days must be within the last 5 year and meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of 5 audit days in the role of a Lead Auditor for an ISO management system standard
- Minimum of 5 audit days for ISO 50001 Energy Management System Standard
Audit days may include audit planning and audit reporting.
