Credential Pre-requisite REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for the CT(IAC) are required to pass the national examination prior to applying for the IAC Comprehensive Cytotechnology examination. More information about requirements for the Cytotechnology practice and requirements is available through American Society of Cytopathology and the American Society for Clinical Pathology. In the U.S., the prerequsite is the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), Cytotechnologist, CT(ASCP).
Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for the CT(IAC) are required to have three (3) years of full-time experience in cytotechnology.

The Certified Cytotechnologist CT (IAC) credential has the following other requirements:

Candidates for the CT(IAC) are required to supply two letters of recommendation:
- One from the current pathologist employer,
- One from a previous teacher in cytotechnology, or a leading pathologist in the health care or research community, or a member of the International Academy of Cytology.
