The American Board of Wound Management (ABWM), Certified Wound Care Associate (CWCA) certification demonstrates specialized knowledge in wound management. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of wound care related experience. The CWCA is available to associate degree RNs, LPNs, LVNs, PTAs, all certified healthcare assistants, healthcare administrators, dieticians, sales and marketing professionals, and academic researchers. Candidates must possess a full and unrestricted professional license in at least one state, and in all states in which the candidate currently practices. Candidates must successfully complete the eligibility review and pass a written exam.

Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have at least three years of wound care experience.
Other REQUIREMENTS
The Certified Wound Care Associate (CWCA) credential has the following other requirements:
- Candidates with a professional license must have a full and unrestricted professional license in at least one state and in all states in which the candidate currently practices.
- Candidates must provide three letters from professional references.
- Candidates must provide a personal statement with a detailed description of three years of clinical wound care experience.
- Candidates must provide a professional resume or curriculum vitae.
- Candidates must adhere to the ABWM Code of Ethics.
In addition to classifying by topic, items will be classified by task. Tasks that are eligible for assessment include: patient preparation, patient assessment, treatment, education, and administration tasks. Additional information is available in the CWCA Candidate Handbook.
