The Global Communication Certification Council (GCCC), Communication Management Professional (CMP) is for generalists, specialists and other business communicators established in their careers as managers. To earn the CMP, candidates must have eight years of experience and 40 hours of training or six years of experience, two years of education and 40 hours of training. Candidates must also pass a written exam.

Education/Training and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have eight years of experience and 40 hours of training.
Option 2:
Candidates must have six years of experience, two years of education and 40 hours of training.
Note: Training must have occurred within the two years prior to an application for certification. If education is recent, it may qualify as both education and training. Experience must be within the past 12 years. Additional information can be found in the GCCC Candidate Handbook.

The Communication Management Professional (CMP) credential has the following other requirements:
- Candidates must subscribe to a code of professional ethics for communication professionals, such as the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Code of Ethics or the code of another professional association to which a communicator belongs.
