The Certified Laser Repair Technician (CLRT) is the entry-level National Council on Laser Certification credential designed for experts who repair medical lasers. Candidates include biomedical engineers, technicians or those mechanically inclined and trained to work on lasers. The certification is intended to meet the ANSI 136.3 requirement that laser service technicians obtain training in both laser safety, and technical repair procedures commensurate with the level of work they will be performing.
