The Certified GIS/LIS Technologist certification is designed for technicians who integrate a variety of spatial data sets into a GIS format designed for graphic output or analysis. Candidates are required to have a total of three years of experience, of which two are in a specialty category. Candidates must also submit four references from persons knowledgeable of the applicant's work experience and personal conduct, comply with the Code of Ethics of the ASPRS, and successfully complete a written examination following peer review and approval.

Education and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
A total of three years of experience are required, two of which must be as a GIS/LIS Technologist. Note: An Associate, or higher education degree can be counted as one-half year towards total time.

The Certified GIS/LIS Technologist credential has the following other requirements:

- Applicant must submit a non-refundable application fee. The Application includes a declaration of compliance with the Code of Ethics of the ASPRS.
