The BACB Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) is an intermediate-level certification for professionals who conduct behavioral analysis. Professionals who are certified at the BCaBA-level practice under the direction and supervision of someone certified at the BCBA/BCBA-D level. BCaBAs can supervise the work of Registered Behavior Technicians, and others who implement behavior-analytic interventions.

Education REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for the BCaBA must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. The bachelor’s degree may be in any discipline.
Education/Training and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for the BCaBA must meet one of three education/training and/or experience categories:
Option 1:
Supervised Independent Fieldwork

- Hours of Experience - 1000 hours
- Length of Supervisory Period - 2 weeks
- Minimum # of Contacts per Supervisory Period - 1 contact
- Minimum Amount of Supervision per Supervisory Period - 5% of total hours
Practicum

- Hours of Experience - 670 hours
- Length of Supervisory Period - 1 week
- Minimum # of Contacts per Supervisory Period - 1 contact
- Minimum Amount of Supervision per Supervisory Period - 7.5% of total hours
- Course Grade - official documentation reflects a passing grade (C or better) in all experience courses
Intensive Practicum

- Hours of Experience - 500 hours
- Length of Supervisory Period - 1 week
- Minimum # of Contacts per Supervisory Period - 2 contacts
- Minimum Amount of Supervision per Supervisory Period - 10% of total hours
- Course Grade - official documentation reflects a passing grade (C or better) in all experience courses

Other REQUIREMENTS
The Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) credential has the following other requirements:
- BCaBAs must abide by the Professional and Ethical Compliance Code for Behavior Analysts.
- BCaBAs must have at least one BCBA or BCBA-D supervisor.
